George Harrison était un chanteur et guitariste anglais, né le 25 février 1943 à Liverpool, mort le 29 novembre 2001. George Harrison était le plus jeune des Beatles. Il composa plusieurs titres au sein du groupe, dont : If I Needed Someone, Taxman, While my guitar gently weeps, Here comes the sun ou encore Something. Suite au voyage des Beatles en Inde et de leur rencontre avec le Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, adepte de la Meditation Transcendantale, George Harrison resta toute sa vie attaché à l'Inde et à la philosophie hindouiste. Il s'intéressa égalemment à la musique classique traditionnelle indienne qu'il contribua a faire connaître en Occident et qu'il intégra à ses compositions. Il a cotoyé les plus grands artistes indiens comme le sitariste Ravi Shankar dont il a produit l'album "Mantras" a la fin des années 90.
